The Cotes du Rhone Clos de l’Hermitage (a blend of equal parts Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre) can be stunning, but the 2004 is merely good.

Crisp, tart acidity compresses the palate and texture of this dense ruby/plum/purple-colored effort. Sweet cassis and cherry fruit along with medium-bodied, nicely concentrated flavors, and moderate tannin to shed suggest it should drink well for 7-8 years.
